“Brothers”

Chosen Photograph

I discovered this photograph of myself and my brother from a time when we were young conquering a hill on where I assume is Gourock, Inverclyde. Thus, this photo resonated with me for its nostalgic connotations of us growing up together.

Description of photograph

The photo itself appears to highlight how young we were at the time as if you look closely I’m sporting the appropriate Mickey Mouse wool gloves. More importantly the photo appears to present a large amount of physical space and surrounding. Additionally, we are visibly cold with our excessive yet appropriate use of winter wear.

Reflection

Reflecting on this photograph, I admire it sense of space and certain aura of innocence surrounding it as two brothers appear to be proud of climbing this hill on a cold day.

The music

When producing the music for this photograph, in order to create this sense of space, I added a certain reverse effect on all the instrument channels (with the exception of two of the drum tracks). In turn, this creates a spacious atmosphere for the song. More specifically, the use of the reverse effect can be applied to the sense of nostalgic value the song and photograph holds. In essence, to reverse and reflect on this photograph.
